EV Ready Plans
What are EV Ready Plans?
To expedite BCs transition to EVs from traditional gasoline vehicles, BC hydro has begun offering various rebates to support the installation of EV chargers and EV charger infrastructure. For Multi-Unit Residential buildings (MURBs) many of these rebates are accessible through an EV ready plan. An EV ready plan is a document that outlines a strategy to provide each unit with at least one “EV ready” stall with sufficient power to satisfy the resident’s daily commuting needs.
Each Patriot Electric EV ready plan will include:
- An in-depth document outlining how the EV infrastructure will be installed.
- A building wide load calculation to ensure your building’s existing infrastructure can support the new EV load.
- A charging performance assessment to determine how much power each unit requires based on vehicle types and average distance driven.
- High quality reference drawings showing the planned method for installation of the infrastructure.
- An accurate estimate for the cost of installing the EV infrastructure.

What Rebates do You Receive from EV ready Plans?
Rebates for Multi-Unit residential buildings come in two streams, rebates with an EV ready plan and rebates without an EV ready plan. The below table summarises BC hydro’s rebates with and without an EV ready plan
EV Rebates with an EV ready Plan
- 75% of the cost of completing the EV ready plan up to $3000.
- 50% of the cost of installing the EV ready Infrastructure up to $600/stall and $120,000/building (does not require chargers to actually be installed, rebates are based on the number of “EV Ready” stalls).
- 50% of the cost of purchasing and installing the EV chargers up to a maximum of $1,400/charger and $14,000/building (requires chargers to actually be installed).
EV Rebates Without an EV Ready Plan
- 50% of the cost of purchasing and installing the EV chargers up to a maximum of $2,000/charger and $14,000/building (requires chargers to actually be installed).
